After the disappointing performance of her third album, I'm Your Baby Tonight, Houston rocketed back to the top of the charts in late 1992 with the soundtrack from her first movie, The Bodyguard. The love theme from the movie, a version of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You, " broke all previous sales and airplay records, becoming the biggest single in pop music history; it also won her an almost innumerable amount of awards, including several Grammies. With pure pop music melded to stunning beauty, Houston's star shines bright whether she is singing ballads, uptempo dance material, the national anthem, or cola commercials; after a long studio hiatus, she finally returned with a new LP, My Love Is Your Love, in 1998. |
