WHITE ZOMBIE - BIOGRAPHY |

All garish colors and trashy noise, White Zombie brought some sleazy fun back to heavy metal, celebrating the sheer schlock of cheap sex and bad horror movies. Although they gathered a cult following with a series of independent albums in the late '80s, it wasn't until their video for "Thunder Kiss '65" was aired on MTV's Beavis & Butt-head in 1993 that the band crossed over to a large audience. And they were the rare metal band that could appeal to jaded, post-modern hipsters; with their campy lyrics and theatrics, it was clear that the band didn't take themselves seriously. White Zombie consolidated their success in 1995 with Astro Creep: 2000 -- Songs of Love, Destruction, which sold over two million copies. In the summer of 1996, the group released a collection of remixes from Astro Creep called Supersexy Swingin' Sounds. |
